Game Review
St Kilda had 5 goals on the board before Carlton kicked their first for the day. The second quarter was little better with the Saints adding another 3 goals before Carton scored its second. 5 goals to 2 in the third quarter would give the Saints a 57 point lead at the final break. St Kilda dominated the midfield with their superior pace on the big Waverley ground. Carlton had no answers for Loewe up forward, who kicked 4 goals. In the final quarter, the Blues slammed on 8 goals, to reduce the margin to 17 points and have a faint chance of an improbable victory. But the Saints then responded with 2 goals, to run out 31 point winners.
Craig Bradley had 29 possessions. Brett Ratten and Adrian Whitehead had 26. Andrew McKay had 23. Stephen Silvagni was switched to full forward in the second half and kicked 3 goals.
