Game Review
Again Carlton were defeated when "Big John" Nicholls was on State duties, and this was the first win by St. Kilda since Round 2, 1966 with Carlton winning the last ten meetings.Nicholls had been in superb form and his absence allowed the feared "Big Carl" Ditterich to dominate the rucks.
After 4 straight wins had appeared to put the Blues into a strong position for an assault on the final 4, this loss threw a cat amongst the pigeons.
