Game Review

Carlton dominated the first half of this match, led by former hawk Brett Johnson, who seemed to have the ball on a string, with 19 possessions to half time. Nick Stevens and Heath Scotland also contributed to the Blues' early midfield dominance. However this was not translated onto the scoreboard and the Blues went to half time just 4 points clear, after some costly turnovers.

However the Bombers took control of the game in the third quarter, kicking 8 goals to one. The Blues persisted to outscore the Bombers in the final term and go down by 37 points.

Trent Sporn was Carlton's best, minimising the influence of James Hird (who earlier in the week had publicly criticised umpire Scott McLaren, who ironically officiated in this match) and also contributed 2 goals. Bret Thornton kept Matthew Lloyd to just 2 goals, although he also kicked 7 behinds.
