Game Review

For the second successive year, Carlton rover Leo Brereton kicked 6 goals in this round, when Carlton knocked over the Shinboners by 26 points at Arden Street. Blues full-forward 'Turkey Tom' Carroll chalked up another five majors, and the win lifted Carlton to second place on the ladder behind Footscray.
In a 5-team scramble for the other two places in the four, Melbourne and Hawthorn held on grimly, ahead of Essendon, South Melbourne and St Kilda. Tom Carroll (with a modest 16 goals after five games) led the goal-kicking table, from John Dugdale of North Melbourne and Brian McGowan of South Melbourne; each with 15 majors.
