"More people can see a match at Carlton than on any other League ground, but the great embankments were fully covered today, and both teams received a rousing reception. It was the largest crowd seen this season and composed for the greater part of that large section of football followers who like to see a great game regardless of club interests. Consequently there was an enthusiasm for the fine play by both sides running all around the arena throughout the play."
"Memories of the good old days were awakened by the match between Carlton and Geelong - days long before the League was formed. Then a meeting of the representatives of these teams were always considered a great event in the football world.
