William Charles Hensley was born on 18 October 1876 at Byaduk to Richard Hensley and Charlotte Elizabeth Stewart. He was known as Bill Hensley.
Bill was recruited from Nhill to play football for Carlton Football Club.
On 28 May 1892 Bill played half forward flank for Carlton Football Club, against North Melbourne at North Melbourne in Melbourne. , Carlton won.
In an article in 1931 it was reported that on 27 July 1892 Bill played in a football match against Horsham. He played in the ruck. The match was played in Horsham, with the Nhill players travelling by train. The result was a draw. ,
On 24 Sep 1892, Bill played half back flank for Carlton Football Club at Victoria Park in Abbotsford, Melbourne.1,2, They were beaten by Collingwood.
In a practice match, on 29 Apr 1893, Bill was named to play for Carlton Football Club against Carlton District Juniors at Melbourne University, Carlton.1, Melbourne. Carlton seniors won.
Bill was named to play for Carlton Football Club on 20 May 1893. They played against Richmond at Richmond. Carlton won.
