Hailing from South Australia via London and Collingwood, Edwards’ trek to the AFLW has been a road well-travelled. At 29 years of age heading into AFLW 3.0, Edwards will provide valuable leadership for the Blues, having captained North Adelaide (2017, SANFL) and Collingwood (2018, VFLW). She’s an attacking half-back who can also make an impact in the middle of the ground. Draft history: 2018 NAB AFLW Draft 4th round selection, No.42 overall.

At the conclusion of the AFLW 2021 season Jess Edwards was advised that she would not be offered a new contract. Edwards played 14 games across three seasons for the Game Changers since arriving at the Club as a fourth-round selection in the 2018 AFLW Draft. Her time in Navy Blue was epitomised by a team-first mentality, constantly performing lock-down roles in defence and through the middle of the ground. This was symbolised in 2020 when Edwards earned the Blueblood award for living the trademarks of the playing group. Interim GM of Women’s Football Brett Munro thanked Edwards for her contribution to the Club. “Jess is a fantastic teammate and Carlton person who has been a great contributor to building the strong culture we have at the football club right now,” Munro said. “She gave her all every time she put on that Navy Blue guernsey, which her teammates, coaches and no doubt our members and supporters are grateful for. We wish her all the best for the future.”
