Originally from Parkdale, Rohan Kerr was recruited by the Blues from the Dandenong Stingrays at selection number 59 in the 2009 AFL draft. A lively, hard-running half-forward or midfielder, he impressed Carlton’s Recruiting Manager Wayne Hughes during that year’s TAC Cup (Under 18) finals, and was the Blues’ third selection behind Kane Lucas (no.12) and Marcus Davies (no. 43).

Speaking after the draft on Carlton's website, Hughes said; “Bit of a speculative pick, young Rohan. He had a very good finals series for the Dandenong Stingrays. Missed the first half of the year with an ankle injury. Has really good skill, kicks a lot of goals, good user of the footy. I think he’d be the most surprised player tonight, I would have thought, getting drafted. But I just think he has a little trick that’ll be good for us, so we’ll give him a chance.”

Over 3 years, Kerr’s only showing opportunities at senior level came during the 2011 Pre-Season and 2012 Pre-Season NAB Cup competitions, when he played two of the early round robin games, against Richmond and Collingwood in 2011 and Port Adelaide and Adelaide in 2012. Unfortunately for Kerr, over 3 seasons he was not able to break into the seniors and at the end of season 2012, his short time at Carlton came to an end when he was delisted.

Kerr headed west for the 2013 to line up with WAFL club West Perth and was a key player in their 2013 premiership side when he scored 5 goals. Kerr would be a key mainstay whilst playing at West Perth in his four years where he played 82 games (he averaged 23 possessions a game over the 82 games at East Perth). Due to his job at Alcoa he could no longer commit playing in Perth due to the distance between West Perth and his place of employment, so he signed on to play in 2017 for the Pinjarra Tigers. In 2019 whilst playing with East Perth Kerr would poll 15 votes in the Sandover Medal and finish equal 9th oevrall.
