Game Review
On this cold and wet Saturday afternoon, just over 25,000 hardy souls ventured to Arctic Park to watch Carlton beat a plucky Footscray by six goals.Thirty scoring shots to fourteen told the story of the match, with the conditions, and Carlton's inaccuracy in front of goal being the main reasons why the Blues failed to reach 100 points for one of only two occasions all year.
''Statistically Speaking
Carlton once again showed that they are going to be a force for the finals when they defeated Footscray by 36 points at VFL Park. Footscray will go down as being the first side in the 1979 season not to have 100 points kicked against them by the Blues. Carlton despite the wet conditions again had in excess of 100 handballs for the match. Their average for the 20 rounds so far is 107 per match. - Ray Young Football Record.''
