Game Review

The Blues needed to bounce back from the previous weeks loss to Collingwood.

An epic low-scoring struggle appeared likely to fall Fitzroy's way as they led midway through the final term. The Blues then managed to repulse several threatening attacks which may well have given the Maroons an unassailable advantage.

Carlton surged, and goals to Jack Conley, Fred Stafford and Conley again in the final 12 minutes secured victory for the Blues.

Bruce Andrew (he of the theodilite hair part), called the game "a close, thrilling keenly fought struggle dominated by superlative defence by both sides" (Sporting Globe).

Carlton had extended their record to 8-2 and their ladder leadership remained intact.
