Game Review

As quickly as the Blues fortunes had swung for the better against South they dipped spectacularly in the first quarter against North. The Shinboners slammed on 7 goals to one to open a lead which Carlton, despite battling manfully throughout the rest of the match, could not rein in. The Blues goal-kicking was deplorable severely limiting their chances of overtaking the Kangaroos.

Carlton fans were unimpressed by much of the days proceedings. North ruckman Ted Larsen was abused as he left the ground injured during the 3rd quarter. Larsen stopped to argue with the crowd and appeared set to grab one spectator by the throat before apparently having a change of mind. Following the final siren "a huge crowd of Carlton supporters gathered around the umpire's race and made a demonstration" (Sporting Globe).
