A player named Bruford was named as one of Melbourne's better players against Carlton. (same person?)

1868 May 23
Bruford played in the scratch match in Royal Park to select a Carlton team to play Geelong.

1868 The Argus has Bruford named as an emergency for Carlton in the side to play Geelong on Monday 25th. May.

1868 June 27
Bruford was a Carlton representative in the North vs South match played on the Melbourne Football Ground.



The Australian Football web site in an article on "Some famous footballers: from 1858 to 1900" (taken from a Markwell article in The Argus August 01 1908 p7) said there was a F. H. Bruford who was a football associate of H.C.A. Harrison in the 1870's and he later became the colonial commissioner of audit.


The Australasian August 28 1909 (p23) writing on the death of Jack Conway names F. H. Bruford as one of players Conway played with.

1908 August 15
The Age (p16) writing about the 50 years of Australian Football and some pioneer players, mentions;
"F. H. Bruford, the present Auditor-General was 'one of the best' in the early days."
