1872 Mr and Mrs Aylwin family (5) and a servant arrived in Melbourne on the S.S.Northumberland from Plymouth England on September 16 1872.
The Public Records Office Victoria has a Harold Aylwin aged 1 arrived September 1872 on the Northumberland which was captained by Henry H. Shinner.
The Northumberland was a new steam/sailing ship on its second voyage to Australia. At that time it was one of the fastest ships in the world.
It was 'just' a 53 day voyage, less than two months. A far cry from the six months of the early 1800s.

A Player named H.S. Aylwin from the South St. Kilda club, played for a Combined Juniors team that played and beat Carlton on the East Melbourne C.G. in a pre season match

1892 Alywin was named in the Carlton squads for pre season matches and for nine home and away games throughout the season.
Harry definitely played at least six games, mostly on the half back flank, once at full back and once on the half forward flank.
Debuted in the opening match of 1892 v Collingwood at Victoria Park, which Carlton won.
He was named in other Carlton team squads but it is unsure if he was part of the 20 that took the field.
Harry was last mentioned in the team squad of 25, but he did not play against Geelong on the Corio Oval September 17 1892.
Alywin looked for greener pastures at the end of the season and went to St.Kilda.
Alywin had his revenge.
1893 He turned up playing in the backline for the St.Kilda team that beat the Blues at the M.C.G. on May 25.
1896 Aylwin captained the Saints in a match against Richmond on July 11.
Harry Aylwin played 61 (29 V.F.L.) games for the Saints 1897 - 1899, all the VFL games were defeats. He was a St.Kilda vice captain.
Harry was a successful businessman and headed the Australasian arm of UK company, J. & N. Philips & Co.
1949 His Death Notice in the Sydney Morning Herald (02 June p18) has the surname spelt, Aylwin.
Funeral Notice also is spelt Aylwin. Harry's funeral took place at the Northern Suburbs Cemetery, North Ryde (SMH 03 June p14)
