Game Review
Carlton started the game off well and raced to an early lead. But they were wasteful, kicking 4.5 in the first quarter. An injury to Silvagni late in the quarter enabled the Hawks to take control of the match and kick 10 unanswered goals. An efficient 5.2 would put them 3 points ahead at quarter time, despite having had less of the play. The Hawks kept the Blues to just 4 behinds in the second quarter and outscored them in the third quarter by 7 goals to 2, to take a match winning 49 point lead at the final break. The Blues fought back in the last quarter, kicking 5 goals to 1 but it was all too late.
Among the best were Scott Camporeale with 29 possessions and 2 goals, Craig Bradley with 27, Brett Ratten with 26, Andrew McKay with 20 and Stephen Silvagni.
