1865 July 22
Phillips' name appears in the Carlton 25 man squad to play the Warehousemen's club at St.Kilda Park.
1866 May 05
Both Phillips and H. Phillips named in the 25 man President's team vs the Vice president's team practice match.
1866 June 9
W. Phillips is named as an emergency for the Challenge Cup game against South Yarra at South Yarra.
1868 May 25 Monday
The Argus has Phillips named in the Carlton side to play Geelong.
1868 June 6
Named in squad to play Emerald hill at Emerald Hill.
1869 May 22
Phillips played the opening match of 1869, against Geelong at Royal Park on Queen's Birthday.

The Phillips name does not appear the team squad for the one and only match found so far against the14th Regiment in 1868.
However, he may have played as substitute for a player/s who failed to turn up.
He says in the early sixties, 1868 is the late sixties. Perhaps he was mistaken, or was the it the 1861 Carlton/Royal Park team?
