Despite a number of losses in the middle of this season, Carlton could still make the finals given how many Clubs were fighting it out for the middle spots. But they needed to win all of their remaining games and leap over those just ahead of them.

In Round 14, Carlton took on the 7th placed Collingwood and defeated them at home.
