Game Review
Long-serving full-back Wes Lofts had been pushed to centre half-forward with encouraging results in the previous two rounds, and the move proved vital on this day. Despite some appalling goal-shooting in the second quarter, Lofts proved the difference between the two sides with his strength and ferocious attack on the ball.Carlton's poor conversion rate when in control (2-12 in the 2nd) meant they led by only 4 points at the half, but that was matched by the Cats when they held sway in the third quarter (3-9). The Blues trailed by 16 points at the last change, but led by Lofts, sailed home with 6 goals to 2.
