Game Review

In the context of the season (Sydney ended up with the wooden spoon, after winning half their games up to round eight) this would prove a costly loss. The Blues looked flat from the start, and were soundly beaten by a more committed opponent. Stephen Kernahan and Adrian Gleeson were Carlton's best contributors on a forgettable day.

Perhaps the only consolation was the encouraging debut of Rohan Welsh, but loyal and popular clubman Paul Meldrum deserved a better send-off.
