Game Review
The Blues got off to a great start kicking the first 3 goals of the match before leading 5.2.32 to 2.5.17 at quarter time. The 2nd quarter saw the Crows dominate keeping the Blues goalless and scoring 6 themselves to go into the main break with a 24-point lead. The Blues fought back in the 3rd quarter to bring the margin back to 7 points in favour of the Crows at three-quarter time and when Brad Fisher kicked the first goal of the final term things got very exciting for the Blues, and we would be in front, but that would be the last goal they kicked for the quarter and the Crows would prove too good running away 19 point victors on the back of 4 goals to Scott Welsh.In terms of playing positions, Josh Kennedy returned to the team and played the back-up ruckman role which allowed Setanta to go back in defence, where he made the best players in the main papers in a variety of roles. The Blues seemed to have all-game match-ups, involving Andrew Walker on Goodwin, Ryan Houlihan who would keep Crow legend Andrew McLeod to his quietest game of the year in a clear win for the Blues and Andrew Carrazzo blanketed Tyson Edwards--where if the Crow came off, the Blue would follow.
Adam Hartlett had a quiet debut with 4 disposals and an excellent goal-saving tackle to deny Ian Perrie. Andrew Carrazzo, in his 50th game continued on his great season and kept Tyson Edwards to only 10 touches. Jarrad Waite provided an excellent option up forward kicking 4 goals--including an electrifying 3 goal third term. Some poor finishing from Waite denied himself more goals, despite working hard to create more scoring opportunities. Anthony Koutoufides was the leading ball-winner for the Blues with 22 disposals and 2 goals. Kade Simpson was impressive again with 21 stats and a number of hard runs through the middle. It should also be added that Cain Ackland proved more than useful in his best game for the Blues since crossing from St Kilda in the pre-season.
The Blues were very impressive and showed signs of what is in store for their supporters in years to come.
