McSweeny played in the very first match at Carlton's new, but short-lived home ground at Madeline Street (now Swanston Street) Carlton.
The Blues drew with Melbourne 2-2.
The following week 26th. August he played in the victory against a Western District Combine (6-0), and on the third week 2nd. September McSweeny played in the Carlton side that defeated St.Kilda 4-0.
These latter two games were also at the new home ground in Madeline street.
The ground is now part of Melbourne University where Newman College now stands.
