Game Review
It was a wet, miserable Sunday afternoon at the MCG, which was heavy and slippery. Carlton had a number of its best players missing, including Kernahan, Dean and Hanna. The match would be dominated by the defences and goals would be difficult to score. Jose Romero would limit Greg Williams to just one kick and 6 handballs. Craig Bradley, Fraser Brown, Scott Camporeale and Brett Ratten would however provide plenty of drive in the midfield. Brad Pearce would be the leading goal kicker with 3. Stephen Silvagni, Adrian Hickmott and Ang Christou would repeatedly repel Bulldog attacks.
The match was tight until late in the second quarter, when the Blues kicked 2 late goals to have a 13 point lead at half time. It continued to be tight but the Blues' class would prevail to run out 16 point winners.
