''"They all regretted that since last season a great friend of the club in Cr. R. Reynolds, of the Melbourne City Council, had passed away. Cr. Reynolds had given the club splendid service, and to perpetuate his memory the Robert Reynolds medal would be presented each season by the club to the best and fairest player in the side. (Applause.)
The beautiful gardens being completed at the entrance of the club would also be named the Reynolds gardens. (Applause.)"
